POSITION PURPOSE
As a key part of the Home Health leadership team, the Medical Director ensures exceptional care by leading the development and implementation of client care policies and the coordination of medical care. The Medical Director’s roles and functions require the Physician serving to be knowledgeable about current standards of practice in caring for Home Health clients. The Medical Director plays a pivotal role in providing clinical leadership and applying current standards of practice for client care, treatments, practices, and clinical approach. The Medical Director’s leadership and direction promotes the attainment of optimal client outcomes.
ORGANIZATION
This position reports to the Home Health Administrator.

ORGANIZATION
This position reports to the Home Health Administrator.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- The Medical Director collaborates with Home Health leadership, staff, and other practitioners and consultants to help develop, implement and evaluate patient care policies and procedures that reflect current standards of practice.
- The Medical Director helps the Home Health staff identify, evaluate, and address medical and clinical concerns and issues that affect client care, medical care or quality of life.
- The Medical Director educates and provides information to staff, practitioners, clients, families and other caregivers.
- The Medical Director provides information to the facility practitioners from sources such as nationally recognized medical care societies and organizations where current clinical information can be obtained.
- The Medical Director resolve issues related to continuity of care and transfer of medical information between the home health and other care settings.
- The Medical Director completes documentation of progress notes with signatures on all patients whose care has been overseen by the Medical Director.
- The Medical Director signs and dates all orders, such as medications, admission orders, and re-admission orders. (for patients referred by the Medical Director)
- The Medical Director attends case conference, once per quarter.
- The Medical Director reviews, updates and signs policies in relation to Principle Choice Home Health.
- The Medical Director orders management for vaccines.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Graduate of an accredited medical school
- Active Oklahoma M.D. license- in good standing
- 1-2 years of experience required
- Home Health experience is a plus
- Active Oklahoma driver’s license
- Current car insurance and registration
- Reliable transportation is required
- Medical knowledge, patience, compassion, kindness, critical thinking skills, knowledge of infection control practices, stamina, physical endurance, observational skills, knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules, communication skills, leadership, empathy.
- Must be a U.S. citizen; work sponsorship is not available.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- The Medical Director is required to perform moderately heavy physical exertion on a regular and recurring basis such as: extensive driving, assisting patient in transfer activities (wheelchair, to bed, to tub, to commode) and providing substantial support to individuals in ambulation.
- While performing the duties of this job, the Medical Director is regularly required to talk, hear and use hands to feel and handle.
- The Medical Director frequently is required to stand; walk; reach, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- The Medical Director must occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
